West Cumberland Engineering Limited is a UK-based contract manufacturer with over thirty years of experience, specialising in high-quality fabrications and machining. Established in 2002 as part of the Shepley Group, their history dates back to 1948. They focus on delivering bespoke solutions to precise client specifications, particularly within the highly regulated nuclear and petrochemical industries. Their dedicated workshops total 5500m² for fabrication and a 500m² machine shop.

Their extensive capabilities encompass a wide range of manufacturing processes including welding, cutting, forming, machining, inspection, and non-destructive testing. They work with a diverse array of materials, from 0.5mm to 200mm thickness, including stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminium. Key equipment includes multiple EOT cranes up to 15 tonnes, various CNC and manual lathes and milling machines, and EDM machines.

West Cumberland Engineering holds numerous certifications and accreditations, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 3834-2:2021, EN 1090-1, EN 1090-2 & 3 (EXC 2, 3 and 4), Fit For Nuclear (F4N), and CHAS accreditation. They also hold an Approved Supplier Certificate (Build 1) from Sellafield Ltd. and have achieved multiple consecutive RoSPA Gold Medal Awards, including the RoSPA President’s Award. Their expertise extends to manufacturing items such as process pipework, tanks, vessels, gloveboxes, modules, waste containers, and high integrity ductwork, with project evidence including Pump and Valve Modules and a Skip Retrieval Tool.
