Triton Tooling Ltd is a UK-based, family-owned manufacturer established in 1970, specializing in the design and production of bespoke Friction Stir Welding (FSW) tooling. Their expertise in FSW tooling manufacturing dates back to the invention of the process in 1991, and they have collaborated with key entities in the field, including TWI Ltd. Triton Tooling offers a comprehensive service, managing projects from initial design through to production runs, and is equipped with a wide range of machinery to handle diverse requirements.

The company provides several types of FSW tools, such as monolithic and composite tools, including fixed, adjustable, retractable pin, and bobbin tools. They are proficient in working with a variety of materials, including Aluminiums, Tool Steels, MP159, and Nimonic superalloys. Beyond tooling, Triton Tooling offers in-house small batch heat treatment and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) services, including the machining of starter notches and defects and preparation of test specimens. They serve a global customer base across industries including aerospace, railway rolling stock, automotive, and shipbuilding, with increasing adoption by electric car manufacturers for battery trays, and also support research and development sectors.

Triton Tooling's comprehensively equipped toolroom supports their precision engineering, design, and development capabilities, particularly for small production runs. The company was a consortium member of the Mobi-Weld project and an original member of the Eurostir project.
